At the night of March 26, Senthil Kumar was stabbed to death by bike-borne assailants in Villianur, Puducherry. According to reports, Senthil was attacked while he was standing near a bakery adjacent to Kannaki Government Higher School in Villianur. The assailants first hurled country bombs at Senthil Kumar and subsequently, killed him.

Senthil Kumar happened to be a BJP functionary in state.

The video of the incident showed the seven assailants on riding three motorbikes, initially threw bombs at him before killing him by slicing him on the neck with deadly weapons. Police reported that Senthil Kumar away at the spot.

Reportedly, the killers surrendered themselves, later in the day,in a court in Trichy.
