Hindu Youth Brutally Assaulted by Islamist Group for Dancing to Ram Mandir Song [Kalaburagi, Karnataka]

In a distressing incident in Karnataka’s Kalaburagi, a Hindu youth named Bhimashankar Dasara was viciously attacked by a group of Islamist youths for dancing to a Ram Mandir song during a wedding procession. The incident took place on Monday, July 1st, in Itga village under the jurisdiction of Gulbarga University Police Station.

Bhimashankar Dasara, 19, was celebrating at his friend’s wedding procession when he danced to the Ram Mandir song “Agar Chhua To Mandir ko, Teri Aukhat Dikha Denge,” which was played over the DJ. The song’s play sparked anger among a group of Islamist youths, leading to a confrontation. The situation quickly escalated, resulting in Bhimashankar being assaulted by the group.

The following morning, the violence intensified as a group of five or six Islamist youths, identified as Khanpasha, Khajapasha, Mashak Patel, Feroze, Kashim, Madar, and Naeem, forced their way into Bhimashankar’s home and brutally attacked him.

Bhimashankar’s family has since expressed deep fear for their safety, stating that they feel their lives are at risk following the attack. Bhimashankar’s mother has filed a complaint with the police, leading to the registration of a case and the initiation of an investigation.

The incident has created significant tension in Itga village, prompting the deployment of police personnel to maintain peace and prevent further violence.

This incident is part of a troubling pattern of communal violence in Karnataka. Just days prior, a conflict erupted between two groups near the Arahalli Gate in Kolar City during a procession marking the 515th anniversary of Nadaprabhu Kempegowda. A verbal altercation occurred when a DJ was played in front of a mosque, which required police intervention to defuse.

Additionally, in Boliyar, Mangalore, Dakshina Kannada district, an individual shouting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” was pursued and stabbed while returning from celebrating Narendra Modi’s swearing-in as Prime Minister for the third time.

These frequent incidents of violence have raised significant public concern about law and order in Karnataka. The repeated targeting of individuals based on their religious expressions has led to questions about the safety of citizens and the influence of radical ideologies disrupting societal peace.
