Hindu women attacked for their ethnicity [ California , U.S.A. ]

California resident, Lathan Johnson,attacked 14 Hindu women and robbed them in the Bay Area.

As per a media report, the 37 year old, Palo Alto resident, stole necklaces from Hindu women injuring them in the process. His victims were aged between 50 to 73. Some of the incidents include Johnson pushing a woman to the ground before punching her husband in the face, ripping off her necklace, and jumping inside a getaway car. In another such case, a woman’s wrist was broken during the attack.

All of the stolen necklaces are estimated to be worth roughly $35,000.

“We are facing an uptick in hate crimes and online Hinduphobia. Seeing that we’re making progress in prosecuting to the fullest, sends a strong message,” said Samir Kalra, a member of the Hindu American Foundation.
