In a sudden outbreak of violence in Balasore’s Sunhat area, a clash erupted between Hindu and Muslim communities, leading to injuries among several police officers and journalists. The incident prompted authorities to impose Section 144 in the area and deploy a significant police force.

According to local sources, the violence began when residents noticed red-colored water flowing through a drain in the area. The unusual sight led concerned citizens to inform the police, who collected samples of the water. Many locals believed the red water to be blood, leading to a protest that briefly blocked a main road.

As the situation escalated, members of the Muslim community arrived at the scene, resulting in a heated argument and subsequent violent confrontation. The conflict quickly intensified, with both sides hurling bricks and stones at each other. Over a dozen vehicles, including four-wheelers and two-wheelers, were damaged in the melee.

In the chaos, several police officers and media personnel sustained injuries from the flying debris. Some members of the Muslim community reportedly attacked journalists, destroying cameras and mobile phones. The police, already on the scene, alerted higher authorities and struggled to disperse the crowd amid the growing violence.

The arrival of additional police forces helped bring the situation under control, but the tension remained high, leading to the imposition of Section 144 to prevent further violence. Despite the volatile circumstances, no arrests had been made by the time of reporting.

Dainik Jagran attempted to reach Balasore SP Sagarika Nath for further details, but she indicated her inability to respond due to ongoing duties. With the imposition of Section 144 and the deployment of a substantial police presence, the authorities are working to restore peace in the affected area.

This incident underscores the fragile nature of communal relations and the need for vigilant efforts to maintain harmony in diverse communities.
