Hindu Girl Allegedly Raped, Forced into Nikah, Conversion by Muslim Man [Jodhpur, Rajasthan]

A disturbing case of rape and forced religious conversion has surfaced in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The victim, a Hindu girl, befriended her assailant on Instagram, leading to a series of events culminating in her alleged sexual assault, coerced religious conversion, and forced marriage. The accused, who hails from Ahmedabad, has been charged following a complaint lodged at Pratap Nagar Police Station.

The victim recounted that her relationship with the perpetrator began on Instagram, where they initially liked each other’s reels. Their interaction soon progressed to regular chats through the platform, resulting in a closer bond and eventual in-person meetings. Around five months ago, the accused allegedly started sexually exploiting her under the guise of marriage.

According to the Pratap Nagar Sadar police station, the accused invited the victim to meet near Kaylana before taking her to Machiya Safari Park. He also took her to his grandmother’s house, where he allegedly sexually exploited her. The victim continued to meet him under pressure and endured ongoing sexual abuse. She refrained from informing her family due to the perpetrator’s different religious background.

On June 5th, the accused reportedly called her again, and they proceeded to the court to marry. Additionally, a moulvi (Islamic cleric) performed a Nikah (Islamic marriage ceremony) in a garden outside the court and changed her name. After returning home, the victim disclosed the events to her family, who then took her to the police station on June 7th to file a complaint.

Pratap Nagar Police Station Officer Satish Kumar confirmed that a case has been registered based on the victim’s report. The police conducted a medical examination of the girl and are investigating the allegations, which include rape, deception, and forced religious conversion.

This case highlights the serious issues of sexual violence, religious coercion, and the misuse of social media platforms to prey on vulnerable individuals. It underscores the need for stringent laws and vigilant enforcement to protect victims from such exploitation. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of social awareness and education to prevent similar incidents in the future.
