Minor Hindu Girl Kidnapped, Suspect Reportedly [Jhapa, Nepal]

A distressing case of alleged love jihad has emerged from Nepal’s Jhapa district, where a minor Hindu girl belonging to the Nishad community was reportedly kidnapped by a youth named Firoz Mansuri. The victim’s family lodged a complaint with the police on 24th March 2024, implicating several individuals, including Mansuri and others, in the abduction.

According to the victim’s mother, Mansuri is believed to be hiding with her daughter somewhere in India, exerting pressure on the family to withdraw the case. The incident, which occurred in the Kanchankaval area of ​​Jhapa district, has left the victim’s family in fear and anguish, as they express concerns about their daughter’s safety and well-being.

Mansuri, along with his family members and acquaintances, allegedly abducted the minor girl in broad daylight, sparking outrage and condemnation from the victim’s community. Despite their pleas for justice, the family claims that no action has been taken against the perpetrators, leaving them feeling vulnerable and abandoned by the authorities.

The victim’s mother has accused Mansuri’s aunt of threatening to keep the girl hostage until she reaches adulthood, at which point she would be forcibly married off to Mansuri after converting to Islam. Despite these threats, the family remains steadfast in their pursuit of justice, refusing to withdraw the case and appealing to the authorities for assistance in locating their daughter.

Rajesh Yadav, National President of Hindu Samrat Sena, has demanded swift action from the Nepalese administration and warned of protests if the girl is not recovered promptly. This case adds to a growing number of reported instances of love jihad in Nepal, highlighting the need for greater awareness and measures to protect vulnerable individuals from such predatory practices.

As the search for the missing girl continues, it is imperative that both Nepalese and Indian authorities cooperate to apprehend the suspects and ensure the safe return of the victim. The plight of this young girl serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by love jihad and the urgent need for concerted efforts to combat this disturbing phenomenon.
