On 4 September, Saddam Khan ( 25 ) and Imtiaz alias Sonu Ali ( 28 ) raped a woman belonging to the tribal community in the Jashpur district in Chhattisgarh. The rapists are associated with the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). They are residents of the Kusmi area in Balrampur district. They are currently absconding.
Reportedly, the Muslim men started talking to the victim on social media. They pretended to take her to the Dangari Waterfall. Police stated that both perpetrators visited the waterfall along with the victim posted in a private school in the Jashpur district. All three were well-acquainted and used to talk on the phone as well. She, therefore, joined them as friends.
As per the victim, after exploring the waterfall, they took her to a secluded place nearby which had bushes of wild plants .They started to molest her, when she resisted, they gang-raped her.
Furthermore, they threatened to kill her if she dared to tell about the horrific crime to anyone. She managed to get to the Pandrapat police station along with her relatives and report the occurrence out of fear.
Some accounts state that the victim is 19 years-old whilst others state that she is 25 years old. The victim woman is from Manoharpur and is employed as a teacher in a private school located in the Shankargarh neighbourhood.
