Taliban kept the Sikh as prisoners and chopped off their hair [

On September 25, members of the Sikh community revealed that the Taliban kept them as prisoners where they chopped off their hair ( Kesh ).

Reportedly, after the Taliban took over Afghanistan, 43 members of the Sikh community stayed back to protect the Holy book of ‘Guru Granth Sahib.’ the Taliban refused permission to the Sikhs to bring the last remaining copies of the holy book.

One of the members, Baljeet Singh said that, “The condition is not very well in Afghanistan. I was imprisoned for four months. Taliban have cheated us, they butchered our hair in prison. I am thankful and happy to return to India and to our religion.”

For the Sikhs, Kesh, is the practice of allowing one’s hair to grow naturally out of respect for the perfection of God’s creation. The practice is one of The Five Kakaars, the outward symbols ordered by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699 as a means to profess the Sikh faith.
